I am not a big fan of either one of them or even this particular dress, but we must decide who wins this round of Dueling Divas. In one corner we have Marlo Hampton- Real Housewife of Atlanta cast mate (not a permanent cast member) vs. the top female in Hip Hop at the moment- Nicki Minaj; both wearing the same Oscar De La Renta Spring 2012 dress.
Marlo attended a fashion fundraising benefit at an Atlanta Neiman Marcus pairing her dress with gold accessories
Nicki wore her gown to the 2011 American Music Awards paired with Alexander McQueen wedge sandals
I think that Marlo nailed this look, accessorizing the dress with understated gold tones really complimented the dress and makes it appear more wearable than Nicki’s look. Pairing this dress with a pink wig and the black McQueen sandals was a bit much, but we all know that is Nicki’s m.o. so I can’t fault her for it.
In this round of Dueling Divas, I must give it to Marlo by a t.k.o.

I think that Nicki’s taste in clothing has a lot to do with her success. She appears to be very animated most of the time. Which keeps the attention of the masses. Some of her stuff looks stupid to me. Once in a while she looks nice though.

I hate to be the one to disagree with the masses but I love the vibe of the nicki minaj version. Clearly being a risk taker keeps her in the spotlight. Coming from my very conservative corporate setting its refreshing and inspiring to see someone embrace a look so completely. Playing it safe can make you blend into the background in my opinion.
I agree, Marlo looks better. Nicki looks clownish.
have to agree with Decoart, this dress is not sophisticated or the regular black gown. It’s screams Nicki Minaj and her creativity comes out in it, like the model she captures the artistic side of the fashion. Marlo sophisticaticated style does not come alive to me in this piece. Her face and hair does not match the dress.
